The MEGAZONE-UK -- News Update 01-Sept-2009

E-mail Print PDF

Welcome to the New Megazone-UK Website. As you can see we now have a new look for the website this month, along with more than a few other tools & features, which we hope will make this website more functional. Its been three years today since the last news update was released here, and since that time more than a few changes have taken place both online, and with the Megazone laser tag scene in the United Kingdom.

We currently have only a few news pieces ready to release, but we are hoping to add some more in the coming days, and we have a lot of content to add to the site over the coming months.

THE MEGAZONE-UK LASER TAG PLAYERS COMMUNITY

Please be patient with the website, there is only one person over seeing this website full-time at the moment and that's me R4IDER, and I’m the person who writes the material, produces the artwork, and builds and maintains the website, so naturally there is only so much I can do with some of my free time. The website is constantly going to be under construction over the coming month, and the months following.

If any Zone Laser Tag Centres would like any information about their Centre or Events advertised on Megazone-UK, please would you make contact through the forum, which has a section for each Zone Laser Tag Centre that is currently known, or through the new website system which can have articles submitted. We will try to add a new contact section in the coming days, so that simpler methods can be available for contact.

E-mail Print PDF

Last month the UK Armageddon 2009 Multi-System Laser Tag Tournament the third in its series, was held between Friday 14th & Sunday 16th of August 2009, with four teams of eight players, from different laser tag equipment centres taking part. The multi-system tournament which was spread across six different laser tag centres within England, with a different laser tag system at each centre.

The Armageddon laser tag tournament is a competition designed to prove who is the best laser tag team, by intentionally spreading the high-endurance competition over different laser equipment, so that the winning teams are the better teams overall.

The overall winning team is decided by a points reward system, where by one point is rewarded to a team for winning the game, or 1 point deduction for losing a game, with no points gained or lost for team draws. All the points from the different stages are then combined to produce an overall team ranking, with the team with the most points ranked from the top downwards.

The Megazone Laser Tag stage of the tournament was held at the Huddersfield Laser Zone centre, which has the System T Infusion Zone Laser Tag equipment installed. Other sites which held the different stages in the multi-system competition were: Adventure sports Abridge (Outdoors), DarkLight Birmingham (V5), LaserForce Peterborough (Gen 6), LaserQuest Sudbury (LQX) & Quasar Huddersfield.

The overall winning team rankings were:

FIRST:
Psycho Family
31 Points
SECOND:
Ghetto Hat
17 Points
THIRD:
Cerberus Blue
11 Points
FORTH
Forth Entropy
10 Points

More Information & results from the UK Armageddon 2009 Tournament can be found here at the official website: http://www.ukarmageddon.co.uk

System NexusFEC Released 2007

E-mail Print PDF

In early 2007 P&C Micros officially released there System NexusFEC, a mid-range product from there Nexus Generation of laser tag equipment, which is designed for intended use by multi-attraction facilities.

System Nexus

The NexusFEC laser tag equipment is a twenty-first century release, which takes advantage of surface mount electronics construction technology, creating a more compact & slim design than previous zone laser tag equipment. The equipment comes complete with brighter, true colour LEDs for increased visibility & colour density, which can produce nearly seventeen million colour variations, and an increased number of vibrators for increased feedback felt by the player.

The equipment has a new sturdy vest, which can be unclipped at the front like a life jacket, along with the standard clips on the sides, which can be tightened. The sensors & electronics installed on the vest are now more compact, making height of the new transparent plastics installed on the outside of the vest less raised, and less likely to be caught on corners or edges.

Phasor Green

The phasor has been completely re-designed, and contains a new type of LCD screen, the ibutton reader, the rubber phasor nozzle, and the two hand safety feature, housed in a new transparent plastic case design.

Phasor Screen

The same as the Infusion laser tag equipment, the NexusFEC equipment is radio based, and is equipped with high speed communication hardware, which combined with advanced software allow for real time changes & monitoring.

As the NexusFEC model is the mid-range version from the Nexus Generation of laser tag equipment, there is a reduced number of game formats than the previous high-range Infusion equipment. Though NexusFEC does comes complete with the standard formats such as solo, team, elimination, continuous format, base games & two specialist games for corporate groups etc.
