I started playing zone many years ago, when Megazone technology first setup in Sutton, prior to their move to Leicester.

I worked there for a few years, prior to the zone finally closing.

Does anyone remember Megazone Sutton, which was on the 2nd floor of the old Sainsburys building, on St Nicholas Way?

I have crawled through the forums etc, but its like it never existed :-(

What was the Sutton Zone like, what type of zone equipment did the centre have installed ?

Suton was the best site ever! Norwich was the first Megazone site to open in the UK, but Sutton quickly followed it and was P&C's first corp store in the UK. Megazone Technology (now ZoneEU) were based in the same building (above us) before they moved to Leicester.

Being early, Sutton started life with v3 but quickly upgraded to v4. We had a mix of parts from both systems but it was a V4 system, just prior to Z.

Sutton was themed perfectly so the immersion hit you immediately on walking up the stairs. An original Zone. We started off as a 30 pack site but we downgraded in the end to 21. Excellent ramps/bridges, sentinels and three purpose built but confined bases, each with multiple entrances. Not like these phonebooth bases you see today.

Those V4 Systems were not bad kit. I enjoyed a few dozen good games on a V4 System at the Morecombe Megazone centre, and it was good fun.

Yeah the older zone centres often have a style & decore that would do really well at adding the ultimate adventure of zone laser tag.

You never know, maybe some of the old players from sutton might have some old pictures lying around.

I did track down a few old players from Sutton, but sadly no one appears to have any photos from back then. Not inside the building anyway. That was well before digital cameras and camera phones were common place. I think we spent all our money on megazone games instead of camera films!

Its amazing what you take for granted these days.. I am hoping some photos will come to light from somewhere one day.. I would love to see any photos of that place..
