-- ( News Update ) -- 31-12-2003
==============================================
Christmas is
here once again, and even though we are all getting older, it's
a traditional event that stays in people's minds, for some the
reasons are blown out of proportion, other than the birth of
Jesus Christ. Still, Christmas brings back memories from 2000,
when it snowed a few days after Christmas, and a big snowball
fight took place out side Megazone
in Leicester, leaving a snow balled front entrance, and
some cold and wet contenders, lol.
Well getting to information regarding
Megazone United Kingdom Website.
Contender Database:
The Contender
Database is still running, and will be taking a new design
hopefully in the coming weeks, with a possible automated operation
of the contender's database in the future. We have had many
requests in the last few months, but have been unable to get
them added to the current list, our aplogies to any who may
have attempted to register a profile, or requested changes to
a current profile.
Megazone United Kingdom Community
Forum:
The Megazone
United Kingdom Community forum is still up and running,
and welcome to any one who wishes to use it, registation is
needed but other than that its totaly free to use. There is
an option to make new topics, meaning you don't have to keep
replying to other people's comments, but maybe just start your
own topic of conversation. When it comes to the operation of
the forum, we do have certain powers like banning members or
editing comments, but that does not mean we have the power to
change passwords or access people accounts, this forum is located
on Ezboard's server, meaning they have the power to make those
kind of changes, or access certain details.
Phantom Opens new Website:
Phantom has once again opened a new website. he has posted a
topic with a link to the website on the forum, so I thought
I would just mention that to you readers.
Derby All-nighter 13th December
2003:
There was another all-nighter held on Saturday 13th December
at Derby
Megazone, located in side Willows Sports complex, which
some of us managed to attend. It was expected to be a popular
event with many of the experienced members of Derby Megazone
attending, especially since it was the first all-nighter with
their newly installed laser tag system, but surprisingly there
was not as many frequent contenders as I was expecting.
Even though the all-nighter was
missing some regular faces, there was a reasonable turn out
in numbers, with many who could be described as not very experienced
beginners, but still managed to do very well for an eight hour
event. With this being the first Infusion all-nighter in Derby,
many of the games drawn up were new from the Game Computer selection
screen such as Zone Ball, which was drawn up as a tournament
game that failed to inspire the public players, and was then
transformed into a traditional team tournament half way through,
thankfully. The evening seemed very slow and grim till around
2:00am on the following morning, at which point the top gun
tournament started, followed by a pairs tournament and finally
team tournament, which saved the all-nighter from an overall
bland result.
Pinball once again won the Top
Gun Award, which is a very competitive solo game. Venom and
another contender won the pair's tournament, which is a game
of teamwork with your pair. As for the team tournament, a team
made up of players from Derby and Leicester, won the tournament
taking home the prizes.
An all-nighter is one of the ultimate
zone events you can attend, it pushes you for over six hours
on average, showing the contenders from the players, and the
experienced from the beginners. Attending an all-nighter is
not just about winning the trophies, though it can be an important
factor for most contenders, but contending against the best
of the best is like the next level of zone, pushing your limits
to the max.
My thanks go to the staff of Derby's
Willow sports centre for giving out some respectable trophies,
serving some nice food and setting up a good event in all.
Thanks to Killcrazy for keeping the games rolling, even at times
of disorder, as it would not have been the same without his
support.
Have a Happy New Year. :)
