-- ( News update ) -- 15-02-2006
=========================================
Its been an interesting couple of weeks since the last news
update, Acocks Green announce a big event, A Zone Climber Moment
at Derby Megazone, Leicester change there pack names, and Wellingborough
Laser Maze players travelled up to Leicester, for Leicester
Megazone's members night.

Acocks Green Megazone located
within Birmingham, will be holding an special event on Saturday
11th March 2006, from 7:00pm in the evening till 1:00am on the
following morning. The news of this even has only just landed
here at M.Z.U.K.C, but from what has been patched together,
there will be 6 hours of different kinds of zone laser tag games,
with maybe a solo tournament with trophies, all for £15
pounds. Naturally a limit on the least amount of people will
effect whether the event will go a head, but hopefully that
won't be the case. More information will be updated on this
page soon, if you would like to make contact with Acocks Green
Megazone for more details, please phone 01217 644764
** UPDATE 16-02-06: No Trophies, No Tournament, Just a fun Night
with a wide range of System 4/Z games. **
** UPDATE 01-03-06: Time
will now be from 9:00PM till 1:00AM. **

Zone Member Climbs to
a Whole New Level!
On an early day of last week, M.Z.U.K.C received an email
from a Derby Megazone marshal, an angry marshal at that.
It seems going from his
Email, that on the previous members evening on Sunday
5th 2006 at Derby Megazone in the final thirty minutes
of the evening, one of the members climbed on top of the
yellow base, and fell through to the pack room below.
Naturally its not often
someone falls through the roof of a structure while playing
Megazone, so I could not help laughing about this one,
and down to how it has been described in the email it
quite funny, but you would need to read it so here it
is.
Artwork Team made a quick artistic impression, lol. >>>>>>>

QUOTE= "Last Sunday I was running Derby's Zone Heads. The
evening was going very well and all 10ish regular members had
played a good selection of games
team, solo, base scenario
etc
Come 9.30pm (Half an hour before we were to finish)
we decided on a new game of some description and all members
were sent into the arena. Myself (The only Megazone Marshal
on Duty) went back into the office to sort out a problem. *CRASH
BANG* I didn't make anything of the noise to start with, assuming
some dipstick had banged into a wall. However Jebus ran into
the office, as if he had seen a ghost, and said I better come
and see what's happened. Some stupid f**king member had decided
it would be a good idea to climb onto the top of Yellow base
and in doing so had crashed through the roof into the pack room.
We have challenged all of our regular members and none of them
will own up to it. Who ever did it has very lucky that
they didn't break their neck and get electrocuted! " END
QUOTE
As you can see
its not super funny, amusing until you think of the risk to
the person involved, and naturally the property damage and long
term consequences. Its true to say that usually nothing like
this ever happens, specially at Derby Megazone, so in future
can all zone laser tag players resist the spider man urge, since
last thing we need is zone members being labelled as demolitionists.
Leicester Megazone goes Loony Tunes with a Toy Story:
Last year Leicester Megazone decided they would name there red
packs after Star Wars characters. Not bad choice, if you forget
about the fact that Jedi's & Sith Lord's only believe in
there trusty light sabre. So this year someone had the smart
idea of changing red pack names to Loony Tunes characters, with
the spelling of Loony Toons for the team name, and the blue
team from Batman characters to Toy Story characters. Great work,
its interesting how childish characters can be used to change
the perspective of a mature laser tag game, interesting zone
image.
Wellingborough Travels
in Force:
Last Sunday, a large Laser Maze force travelled from Wellingborough
to attend Leicester's Megazone members evening. There were around
sixteen players who travelled from Wellingborough, taking the
full turn out up to twenty-eight players. It seems like the
visitors coped well with the change of environment and the increased
competitiveness at Leicester, along with the some of the custom
games played. Thankfully no blood was spilt, no walls were damaged,
and every one seemed to be in good spirits by the end, thanks
to the Megazone supervisor Mark.
Thats the news i could tell you
about, so until next month, keep zone tagging!
