-- ( News update ) -- 25-03-2006
=========================================
An interesting month since the last news update, Acocks Green
holds there first & final large zone event, Chelmsford zone
closes its doors, Acocks Green switches there system to Quasar
Elite & The Megazone Regionals 2006 entry form is released.

Acocks Green Holds There First
& Final Large Zone Event:
On the Saturday 11th March 2006, Acocks Green held their first
& last large late night event, in which fifteen to twenty
people attended. A good number of games were played through
out the evening, which were a mixture of fun games, team games
& solo games, with a special game called 'Dark' to finish.
The hardware was showing its age, but seemed to perform reasonably
well apart from one or two, and thanks to the staff, batteries,
guns & other spare parts were ready on a table in the pack
room, if any were needed. At the beginning of the night, Ant
the member of staff behind the organising of the event, gave
out three awards between two players for highest game results
for certain categories on the members statistics board, since
Acocks would not be Zone site much longer. The two players who
received awards, were Slayer & R@IDER. Slayer received two
awards for Highest Score & Most Games Played, while R@IDER
received a single award for having the longest Highest Average
Accuracy. At the end of the evening, Nightfire was also rewarded
with a golden phaser, for making the overall highest scores
of the evening. The evening seemed to run well, and everyone
was in high spirits by the end of the night, including the staff.
Thanks again to Ant for organising, and overseeing the night
in his spare time.
Chelmsford Closes its Doors
for the Last Time:
Chelmsford a System T site, located just above London on the
East coast, closed its doors on Tuesday 14th March for the final
time. It's not known why the site closed, but it has closed.
The site was known by some players to be a creepy arena, possible
haunted, but not forgetting Scarecrow's first & local Zone
site. Another one bites the dust.
Megazone Acocks Green Switch's
to Quasar Elite:
Rumours of Acocks Green's plans to switch from Megazone laser
tag hardware, to Quasar Elite hardware was floating around as
early as late February 2006, but the M.Z.U.K.C could not report
on it until it became official. Acocks the last of the version
4 / Z sites in the midlands, and originally an LQX site until
1999, is now the second zone arena to either close or change
laser tag manufacturers this month. It was said that Acocks
Green was at one point thinking of upgrading to Megazone's System
T Infusion, but was then approached by Quasar Elite, and Quasar
Elite was chosen. So we say bye bye to Megazone Acocks Green,
and hello to Quasar Elite Birmingham.
The Megazone Regionals 2006
Entry form is Released:
The long time talked about UK Regionals 2006 finally seems to
be kicking off. That's right, the 2006 regionals organiser Paul
Cha@os, has released the entry form, which makes it possible
for an official site team or a non site team to enter. An official
site team can enter from Derby, Leicester, Northampton &
Wellingborough, which will make interesting team competition.
If your interested in making a non official site team, then
download the entry form here.
There will probably be more information on the regionals in
the coming weeks, and hopefully a few teams will be announced
by then also.
Until next month, keep zone tagging.
