The M.Z.U.K.C @ MEGAZONE-UK.COM--
( News update ) -- 17-05-2006
=========================================
Another month and another update
The last news update
was added so close to the beginning of the following month,
it was decided to miss one of the following updates until this
month.

So what do we have to report on.
Well the UK Regional is heating up very nicely with eight teams
down on the list. The new M.Z.U.K.C Zone Players Database is
filling up daily with players from around the world. Another
all-nighter was held at Megazone Leicester last month, &
the Australian 2006 nationals at Campbell Town is also building
up, so its an interesting time in the zone community worldwide.
UK Regional 2006:
This time last year when Paul Ch@os mentioned his idea to hold
a UK tournament of some kind in the future, a lot of people
thought that it sounded like a good idea, but some were not
confident of its being held. It's now been a whole year, and
its really looking good for the UK zone laser tag scene. Teams
are signed up to attend the 2006 UK Regional from all over the
midlands, though sadly it's looking increasingly likely that
the Derby Megazone team will be missing the 2006 UK Regional,
down to a dispute with the site management over the falling
member incident a few months earlier. Some
good news, its been said by the organiser that Acocks Green
has also signed up, and will also be sending a team to compete
in both the Wellingborough & Leicester legs of the competition.
Looking at the team manifest, the Acocks Green team seem to
have some interesting players signed up, so it's going to be
even more interesting when they compete against the Leicester
Infernos.
These teams are signed up for
the UK Regional 2006 quoted from the organiser:

The M.Z.U.K.C - Zone
Players Database:
It's been around two months since the M.Z.U.K.C - Zone Players
Database was officially launched on WWW.MEGAZONE-UK.COM and
thankfully its going very well. There have been 45 members who
have registered there own zone player profile so far, with most
being over the last month. A collection of both seasoned and
new zone players have joined the zone player database so far
from all over the world, and hopefully the number will continue
to grow far in to the future. Shade,
the American Zone player icon, currently has the most interesting
zone profile so far, though ZoneShark
has written an interesting profile also.
Another Leicester Megazone
All-nighter 28th April 2006:
That's right another 9 hour event was held at Leicester Megazone,
with some interesting tournament games, and a good turn out
of people attending. The evening kicked off at 10:00pm on Friday
28th April, with a turn out of about thirty people, with both
seasoned and new zone players ready to enter the zone. Ch@os,
the organiser of the evening, started the night by welcoming
every one who had attended, before running through the typical
zone rules he hoped people would try to follow. After running
through the rules, all the experienced zone players were split
from the public players into two groups, to keep the playing
level fair for the newer players. The Dead Man was the Megazone
Leicester supervisor working the night, along with being the
team tournament organiser, and Firestarter was the solo tournament
organiser for the night. Every one seemed to play a good number
of games each, and no one thankfully seemed to get injured as
the night went on.
The team tournament was four team setup, which went well through
out the night, and was won by Diablos & The Dead man's Team.
The solo tournament was part standard
solo part elimination, to some player's annoyance. There were
two standard solo games making up Round 1 at the beginning,
with the top 6 players progressing through out of 9 or 10 players
in both rounds. Followed by Round 2, a solo elimination with
the players who progressed from the first rounds, in which 6
players progressed out of 9. Round 3 was another solo elimination,
in which another 6 players out of 10 progressed to the next
round. Round 4 was a number of rounds held in the reception
area, in a kind of back to back cowboy shoot out, which when
thankfully finished, 5 players were ready for the final. The
final was a 5 man, 7 minute solo standard, with 6 second deactivation
& 2 shots per second, held at the bottom of the Leicester
second arena next to the reception window. The five competitors
were Anima, Diablos, Nightfire, R@IDER & The Dead Man
The Final Round - Top Gun Solo
Tournament results were:

The Top Three Trophy Winners.
Overall the night was not too
bad, and just like any all-nighter there were highs & lows,
but thanks to all the organisers & staff working the evening,
it was very much a successful event.
Australian Zone Nationals 2006:
Hopefully we will have some news on the Australian Zone Nationals
2006 at Campbell Town later this week, or on the next month's
news update.
Until next month, keep zone tagging.
